In the early 1980s, the Renault 5 Turbo brought a new kind of spectacle to motorsport. Originally developed for rallying, its mid-engined layout and explosive turbocharged performance made it one of the most distinctive cars of its era.
Through the Renault 5 Turbo Elf Eurocup, identical machines raced across Europe in a one-make series that delivered close, aggressive and highly entertaining racing. Among the drivers most closely associated with the car was Jean Ragnotti, whose spectacular driving style made him one of the most charismatic figures of the turbo era.
